Procedures & What to Expect
Interventional radiology procedures are advances in medicine that often replace conventional surgeries. Endovascular specialists in interventional radiology use their expertise in X-rays, ultrasound and other medical images to guide small instruments such as catheters through the blood vessels or other pathways to treat both vascular and non-vascular diseases. These procedures are generally easier for the patient because they involve no large incisions, less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times. Procedures are performed following a consultation with one of our vascular surgeons or interventional radiologists. Most patients are discharged within 24 hours and often the same day.
